Two tank construction and maintenance companies from the Netherlands, Verwater and SJR Group, have joined forces. They bring together 160 years of experience in tanks and industrial services.

The new company offers a range of services in tank storage, from new construction (both on-site and prefab) to maintenance in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.

CEO Wichard Huigen signed the contract on behalf of Verwater, as did SJR’s Managing Director and owner Robert Sloot. Sloot has been added to the management of the new Verwater SJR Group.

Huigen said: “With the addition of SJR we are able to further strengthen our position in the Benelux […] The group will now achieve an annual turnover of more than €200 million; €170 million from Verwater Group and €30 million from the SJR Group. Verwater serves its customers from offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, the US, Estonia and Singapore, and focuses on operational strength, diversification and innovation."

Sloot agreed: “SJR Group has undergone stormy development in recent years and we still have big plans. By merging with Verwater, we are better able to achieve these ambitious and innovative objectives.”

Huigen concluded that enthusiasm should be met with patience: “Patience and carefulness are now just the thing. In the very short term, therefore, little will change for our people, our customers and our suppliers. There is still a lot to be arranged and we take the time for that; this intensive integration process must only be completed in the course of 2021. In the coming months, we will be making well-considered decisions about our accommodation, among other things.”
