With effect from 1 June 2016, René van der Plas has been appointed as the Director of Port of Rotterdam International (PORint), which is involved in the overseas activities of the Port of Rotterdam Authority. He succeeds Roger Clasquin who is taking up the position of Managing Director of the Steder Group in Rotterdam.
Van der Plas previously worked within the Port Authority as Project Director of Maasvlakte 2 and, for the last two years, has been responsible for the rail programme. The rail product to and from Rotterdam has taken a step forward due to initiatives in the area of management and the use of infrastructure and the development of the market. The development of rail operation remains important to the Port Authority. The rail dossier falls under the responsibility of Ronald Paul, COO, who was already responsible for inland shipping and road transport.
PORint is the department of the Port Authority that focuses on providing advice about port development and on participation in port management in new ports in countries strategically important to Rotterdam. PORint does this in support of the development of the port of Rotterdam and the activities of Dutch companies in foreign ports.
