Danantara Investment Management (DIM), Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), and PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group) have completed a strategic investment transaction for the Chlor Alkali-Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC) project. This project is expected to reduce import dependence, generate foreign exchange savings, and increase the availability of raw materials for downstream industries. This partnership combines the investment capabilities of DIM and INA with the expertise and industrial experience of Chandra Asri Group, which acts as the project's main driver. This collaboration also opens opportunities to strengthen specialised technical expertise and operational capabilities in Indonesia, while simultaneously encouraging the growth of a stronger and more competitive national chemical industry, in line with the momentum of the ongoing downstreaming agenda.
Through ongoing partnerships, the CA-EDC project continues to move forward. As of September 2026, construction progress was approximately 80% complete, with major equipment installation underway and the development of supporting infrastructure, including a jetty, trestle , and storage facilities. The facility is designed to produce approximately 400 000 tpy of caustic soda and 500 000 tpy of ethylene dichloride (EDC), two essential chemicals for strengthening Indonesia's domestic manufacturing and industrial capacity. The project is targeted to begin commercial operations in 2027 and is expected to create 3000 jobs during the construction phase and 250 permanent positions during the operational phase.
