G2 LNG to re-file FERC application

This is in response to an administrative notice from FERC regarding the status of the company’s preliminary permit application.

Thomas Hudson, President of G2 LNG, said: “Due to the rapidly changing natural gas marketplace, we previously placed our construction permit application with FERC on hold […] We have taken this time to have broader conversations with customers about their long-term needs, which revealed demand for additional exports such as petrochemicals around the globe and small scale LNG exports to neighbouring countries.”

Earlier this year, G2 LNG announced its intentions to expand by 500 acres its proposed site along the Calcasieu Ship Channel near the Gulf of Mexico. This expansion was in direct response to customer demand to develop LNG and petrochemical export capabilities at the now 1266-acre site.

G2 LNG also confirmed that it has incorporated a small scale LNG export facility into its Gulf Coast site plans during the past 90 days. This new development is based upon advanced discussions with Caribbean and Latin American utilities desiring natural gas for electric power generation.

Hudson added: “This truly is an exciting time for our project. We will quickly complete negotiations with key customers abroad and that will enable us to establish a final design for the entire site based on their needs […] We do not anticipate any substantial delay in the overall project’s schedule due to FERC’s action and our re-filing.”
