Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd (MTE) has signed a contract with one of the UK’s leading air filtration companies to deliver its blast relief systems on what will be the UK’s largest onshore gas storage facility.
Located in Cheshire, the Stublach Gas Storage facility is the biggest salt cavern storage project in the country. The facility stores natural gas 500 m below the surface until customers require it.
With 450 million m3 of gas stored at Stublach, the facility has enough gas stored to power 270 000 homes for both cooking and heating for more than 12 months.
MTE has been contracted to design, manufacture and install a stainless-steel blast relief system at the facility.
Anthony Jones, Managing Director at Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd, said: “The Stublach Gas Storage facility is such a unique and ground-breaking project in its own right that we are thrilled to have been awarded this contract to deliver our industry leading blast relief systems to such an extraordinary scheme.”
