Tanks and Terminals,
Kanon recently completed the delivery and commissioning of multiple MLA270 Marine Loading Arms at an offshore terminal in the Bahamas.
The arms – of various sizes, including 16 in. and 12 in. – are designed for the safe and efficient transfer of refined oil products. Built for long-term performance in corrosive and wave-exposed environments, the arms are equipped with features that support both safety and durability. From swivel joints to hydraulic systems, each component is engineered for ease of use, minimal maintenance, and high operational uptime. These arms now play a central role in the daily loading operations at the terminal, where efficiency, safety, and reliability are non-negotiable.
Installation presented a unique set of challenges due to the remote island location and the absence of large-scale lifting equipment. With no jack-up barge available, a small pontoon with two ageing cranes was used for the offshore lifting operations. Unpredictable sea conditions, such as wind and swell, frequently delayed work. The project required flexibility, precision, and close coordination to ensure safe and timely execution under these conditions.
