Tanks and Terminals,
Terminal operator and owner Advario has joined the SOHAR Port and Freezone Net-Zero Alliance located in the Sultanate of Oman in the Middle East.
SOHAR Port and Freezone is a deep-sea port and adjacent free zone in the Middle East, located in the Sultanate of Oman midway between Dubai and Muscat. The Net Zero Alliance was launched in November 2023, initially with 11 partners participating. This alliance aligned with the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
In a collaborative effort, SOHAR Port and Freezone, together with its industrial tenants including OQ, Vale Oman Pelletizing Company, Sohar International Urea & Chemical Industries, Al Batinah Power and Air Liquide Sohar Industrial Gases, aimed to accelerate Oman’s transition towards a carbon-neutral future, supported by a significant focus on alternative and green energy sources, including green hydrogen.
To further support this endeavour, a dedicated external service facility for carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) will be established at SOHAR Port and Freezone, complete with all associated facilities.
