Tanks and Terminals,
The AUS$52 million project more than doubles Quantem’s diesel storage capacity at the site, providing vital fuel security to support critical transport and infrastructure requirements. Amid global uncertainty impacting ongoing fuel security, the additional storage capacity is a significant boost to South Australian industries, including transport, agriculture, and mining who rely on diesel for their operations.
Commencing in July 2023, the project included the design and construction of three 30 000 m3 diesel storage tanks and associated infrastructure at the site. The project was completed on time and on budget.
Quantem CEO, Nick Moen, said: “This project is a significant milestone in enhancing Australia’s domestic fuel security. Diesel is a critical component in Australia’s fuel and infrastructure requirements and this increased storage capacity is fundamental to enhancing the nation’s energy security. Despite the varied challenges of a project of this scale, we are pleased to report there were no medical treatment injuries or lost time injuries which is a testament to the focus and dedication of everyone in our team involved with the project.”
Quantem appointed engineering and construction company, Saunders International for the design and construction of the tanks.
The project was co-funded by the Federal Department of Industry’s Boosting Australia’s Diesel Storage Program.
