Tanks and Terminals,
In this Spotlight session, Hydrocarbon Engineering’s Senior Editor, Callum O’Reilly, talks to Sam Miorelli, the Global Head of Cybersecurity for Industrial Applications at Siemens Energy.
This special Q&A will explore Sam’s article, entitled ‘A new arena of cyber protection’, that featured in the June 2021 issue of Hydrocarbon Engineering. The article looked at how to optimise refinery turnarounds with AI-driven cybersecurity advances.
Amongst other themes, Sam outlines why refineries are particularly vulnerable to cyber-attacks during shutdowns, turnarounds and outages, and what steps operators can take to protect their facilities.
