ACR S.p.A. will acquire the Gerotto EAR business unit from Gerotto Federico S.r.l., which specialises in the remediation and regeneration of confined sites using high-tech machinery.

The transaction also strengthens the commercial partnership between the two companies, with a focus on the petrochemical, purification, and cement industries, as well as on 'post-disaster' and emergency response activities.

The agreement will take effect on July 1, 2025.

ACR S.p.A.*, a subsidiary of Herambiente S.p.A. with registered office in Mirandola (MO), is further expanding its presence in the remediation and industrial cleaning sector. This morning, a binding agreement was signed for the acquisition by ACR of the business unit known as Gerotto EAR from Gerotto Federico S.r.l. of Campodarsego (PD). The transaction, subject to certain normal conditions precedent, will be completed by the end of the first half of 2025, with effect from July 1.

Gerotto EAR's know-how in excavation and cleaning of sensitive environments

Gerotto EAR is the division of Gerotto Federico that specialises in work in confined spaces or areas at risk of interference, thanks to the specific know-how of its operators and the use of non-invasive, high-tech machinery such as suction excavators and robots, which are manufactured or marketed by the company itself. Gerotto EAR's areas of expertise include material extraction, cleaning of silos and tanks, environmental remediation, and non-destructive excavation in the presence of, for example, underground utilities or extensive root systems. In general, Gerotto EAR's expertise and equipment are used in confined spaces or Atex (explosion hazard) environments, where they minimise the need for direct human involvement, thereby reducing the risks associated with the operation.

The acquisition strengthens the commercial partnership

Together with the purchase of the business unit, which consists of 21 highly specialised resources (fully absorbed by ACR, which will thus exceed 600 employees) and various operating resources, the parties have signed a series of agreements aimed at strengthening the partnership between ACR and Gerotto Federico. Among the most significant points is the supply of Gerotto Federico suction equipment and robots to ACR.

“We are integrating unique, high-quality know-how into ACR. This acquisition is particularly important in terms of quality,” explains Alberto Reggiani, CEO of ACR. "We are integrating unique and strategic know-how into ACR to operate in highly complex areas where it is necessary to guarantee the effectiveness of interventions in confined environments where workers cannot be employed and which therefore require careful planning and management. This completes our offering to sectors such as oil and gas, process chemistry, civil and industrial purification, glassworks, cement factories, and post-disaster remediation. We are confident that this expansion will also contribute to commercial consolidation, creating opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling.”

“We are extremely satisfied with the agreement with ACR,” says Alessandro Gerotto, CEO of Gerotto Federico. "On the one hand, because it allows the company to focus further on the development of robotic machines and equipment, a sector in which we already boast world leadership. On the other hand, because it strengthens our partnership with ACR, a company we have been working with for years as suppliers and partners and with which we will now be able to serve our target markets even better".
