Over the years, the company has steadily expanded its technological portfolio and today offers a complete range of robotic systems capable of meeting the most demanding operational requirements in industrial tank cleaning.
From explosion-proof robots designed for hazardous environments to subsea units for underwater applications, from powerful diggers for heavy sludge removal to battery-powered robots that ensure maximum flexibility, Gerotto’s solutions are the result of continuous technological evolution. This wide product range reflects a constant commitment to innovation, with the primary goal of improving safety, efficiency, and operational reliability while minimising human exposure to risk.

AI-ready Zone 0 cameras: prepared for the plants of the future
The future of robotics applied to tank cleaning must address increasingly complex operational challenges. Asset owners and contractors are under growing pressure to reduce downtime, enhance safety standards, and optimise operational performance, particularly in hazardous and regulated environments.
In response, Gerotto is investing in advanced vision systems capable of evolving beyond traditional remote monitoring functions. Historically, onboard cameras were mainly used to support teleoperation, allowing operators to remotely guide robotic units inside tanks and confined spaces. Today, the new G-OptiCam range represents a significant technological step forward.
Gerotto’s G-OptiCam cameras are designed to be AI-ready, enabling future integration with artificial intelligence (AI) platforms for advanced image processing, anomaly detection, and data-driven operational insights. This approach opens the door to smarter and more predictive tank cleaning operations, where visual data can support decision-making and improve overall process control.
The cameras are certified for ATEX Zone 0 and IECEx Zone 0, ensuring safe operation in the most hazardous explosive atmospheres where flammable gases may be present continuously or for extended periods. This certification guarantees the highest level of intrinsic safety and allows Gerotto robots to operate directly inside high-risk tanks without compromising compliance or safety.
Equipped with high-definition imaging and optimised lighting systems, the cameras provide operators with clear, real-time visibility of the working environment. This enhances operational accuracy, improves sludge removal control, and significantly reduces risk. Continuous visual monitoring enables operators to maintain full awareness of the internal tank conditions, reinforcing the effectiveness of no-man entry operations.
Simplified logistics for faster deployment
Efficiency in tank cleaning operations is strongly influenced by logistics and system deployment. To meet the practical needs of contractors and industrial sites, Gerotto has developed multiple configuration options, ranging from skid-frame installations to fully integrated containerised solutions certified for ATEX and IECEx Zone 1 environments. Containers are available in both 10 ft and 20 ft formats, ensuring flexibility across different operational contexts.
The containerised solution represents the company’s most advanced configuration in terms of operational readiness and logistics optimisation. Once the container is positioned on site, setup time is minimised: operators simply open the doors, deploy the robot, and begin operations. This rapid deployment reduces downtime and accelerates cleaning activities.
Inside the container, a dedicated control room is equipped with certified command stations and display systems suitable for Zone 1 hazardous areas. From this protected environment, operators can safely manage the entire operation at a distance of over 50 m from the tank entry point, significantly reducing exposure to potential hazards.
The container also houses the system’s power unit, which can be configured with either a diesel-driven hydraulic unit or an electric power pack, depending on site requirements. In addition, a dedicated storage area accommodates accessories, spare parts, and interchangeable tools, ensuring maximum versatility. Front-end attachments, for example, can be replaced directly on site to adapt to different sludge conditions or material types without interrupting operations.
A culture of continuous innovation
Anticipating future industry needs has always been a key element of Gerotto’s strategy. The company continuously invests in research and development to push the boundaries of innovation in industrial tank cleaning. Over the years, Gerotto has patented – and continues to patent – technologies that introduce new approaches to robotic cleaning, safety, and operational efficiency.
This innovation-driven mindset allows Gerotto to remain at the forefront of no-man entry solutions, delivering technologies that prioritise safety, productivity, and responsible resource management. By combining ATEX-certified robotics, AI-ready vision systems, and integrated deployment solutions, Gerotto continues to set new standards for safer, smarter, and more efficient tank cleaning operations.
